SONATA NFV: Agile Service Development and Orchestration in 5G Virtualized Networks
SONATA targets both the flexible programmability of software networks and the optimization of their deployments.
The project will support network function chaining and orchestration, make service platforms modular and easier to customize to the needs of different service providers, and introduce a specialized DevOps model for supporting developers.

The latest issue of SONATA newsletter is out.

The SONATA project, represented by ATOS, participated in one of the most prominent NFV interoperability events of the moment, the ETSI Plugtest. In addition to SONATA, fifteen VNFs developers, ten MANO providers and seven NFVI suppliers participated in this second edition of the ETSI Plugtest.

The Network of the Future (NoF) conference is a premier annual conference that covers advances in the area of Future Internet design, with emphasis on enabling technologies, architectures and services.

If you have followed our work, you will already know that the SONATA project has worked closely with OSM almost since the project started.

Sonata Main Objectives
Reduce time-to-market of networked services
SONATA streamlines development with abstract programming models, SDK and a DevOps model that integrates operators, manufacturers and third-party developers.
Optimize resources and reduce costs of service deployment and operation
SONATA orchestrates complex services to connectivity, computing and storage resources, and automatically re-configures running services.
Accelerate industry adoption of software networks
SONATA supports the full service lifecycle: development, testing, orchestration, deployment, management and operations, and will define a roadmap for uptake of its results towards stakeholders' larger transition to SDN/NFV.
SONATA Value and Stakeholders
SONATA’s open source results will have a diverse impact on an expanding telecom sector, including operators, manufacturers and third-party developers:
- reduce time-to-market for networked services
- optimize network management, reducing OpEx
- increase reliability and QoS for 5G networks and deployed services
- decrease barrier of entry and empower third-party developers
About Us
The SONATA project is an EU-funded project (Horizon 2020) and part of the 5G-PPP initiative. The innovative project has a 30 month workplan, recently started in July 2015. SONATA is a highly collaborative effort, with 15 partners representing telecom operators, manufacturers, system integrators, service providers, SME developers, research and academic institutes.
